Spring has finally come to NW OntarioAfter a long winter season, the grass is finally starting to show green here at Moosehorn Lodge. The ice is near disintegrated, and the massive snowfall has melted. We would expect higher than normal water levels here for the start of the season. Winter did not look like it was going to end, and we were perfectly fine with that, until now. Ice fishing here at Moosehorn Lodge was absolutely incredible this winter. Many big walleyes, pike, smallmouth, whitefish and lakers were released by locals and guests alike. The days of being cold on the ice are over, with modern equipment including tents, heaters, flashers, and Thorne Bros. Ice rods, a day of hardwater fishing has become as enjoyable as summer. Taunting fish with your locator and tricking them to bite is very addictive just like the best game you could play. Several groups have already shown interest in Moosehorn 2012 Ice packages, and the ones that have tried will be returning. We will even make shore lunch on the ice for you! We are currently busy sprucing up the lodge for a very busy 2011, and things are looking great already. Linda, Greg and Nicole are busy getting the camp ready. The grounds have been raked, trees cut and general maintenance of the cabins and facilities are being completed. All of the boats are individually making a visit to the garage with Greg Rice and being thoroughly inspected with every issue addressed. Our season has filled up tremendously, and bookings are being set for 2012 already. We thank our loyal return guest for making us the place that they return each year. Many new faces are expected to join us as well. American, Canadian, and some from overseas are the groups we have booked this season. Moosehorn’s dining room keeps on gaining popularity with many all inclusive American plan trips and locals enjoying this great dining experience as well. The last two weeks of May are steady with a bit of room for a last minute trip if needed. June is packed solid with only two spots left for three day fishing trips. July and August are busy as well, but there still are a few great weeks open here. Linda is hosting a women’s fishing special that runs from August 18th to 21st. Ladies call now for a great rate on a guided all inclusive fishing trip! We have also been taking some bookings for scenic September fishing trips here lately. Don’t forget May and September/October are10% off at Moosehorn Lodge. Our guides specialize in October fall monster musky hunting on Lac Seul, and last minute bookings are welcome.
